MudBall Newsletter - Walker Simas
Drinking:
Caffeination: Tie Guys are shamelessly sporting a signature coffee blend, the MudBall Half Caff, by our friends at Goodwalk Coffee. It’s half the caff, so you can double your dose. Those who listen to MudBallMonday drink it for 20% off.
Hydration: Coconut Water (the real shit), water + real salt (minerals matter), (big) blueberry, banana, cinnamon, & date smoothies.
Eating:
In-House: Nectarines are in season- thoroughly enjoying. Friday evening ribeye with a smokey dusting of dry rub.
Out & About: Pub Subs (had about 4x this week), & visited a local ice cream shop. I very well forgot about ice cream. I won’t make the same mistake twice.

A Quote to Sit With: “The vast majority of exchanges are win-win—otherwise they would not have taken place, since they are voluntary.” ― John Mackey, Conscious Leadership: Elevating Humanity Through Business
Thinking:
Referencing an excerpt from Rich Roll’s podcast with CPIII, “stacking days” has been a focus of late. We are aware of the necessary ingredients to make each day feel like a success. Stacking those days makes us more resilient when we encounter the rainy ones, which inevitably come. When the storm appears, lean in. It will be over soon, and you’ll be proud of the effort.
Culture:
Dozens of avid golfers climbed the hills in eastern Nebraska for The Golfer’s Journal event at Landmand Golf Club last weekend. Landmand filled the majority of its tee sheet for the entire year in less than 24 hours.
Reporting from Homer, Nebraska; Casey Bannon, Assistant Editor at The Golfer’s Journal:
“Landmand is a gentle giant- a marvel in scale, slope, and public service. 108 TGJ members came to Nebraska from as far as Ontario to see it for themselves. Not one of us left underwhelmed.”
Competition:
20 year-old Ruoning Yin closes out her maiden victory at the KPMG Womens Open at the recently restored Baltusrol Lower Course on Sunday afternoon. A birdie on the 72nd made the total 67 strokes for the day, which made her a champion.
Architecture:
Excited to visit Cabot Citrus Farms this week as Mike Nuzzo & oversee grow-in. We will be reporting more on this project going forward, but having checked out the land prior to the reno, it’s going to be a special place.
Guest Check in:
Geoff Shackelford’s book Golf Course Architecture for Normal People is now out for purchase. For those looking for a gentle on-boarding to GCA, we highly recommend it. You can listen to Henry’s interview with Geoff here.
