Drinking
Caffeination: Morning Mud is sponsored by our good friends at GoodWalk Coffee, who deliver reliably rich beans with half the caff directly to your door. We call it the MudBall Half Caff, and we live by that.
Hydration: It’s Independence Day, which means paying your favorite dive bar a visit, and maybe taking a few beverages with you on a boat. Check, mate.
Eating
In-House: Recently I have been obsessing over Yakitori. Chef-Owner of New York City’s Kono, Atsushi serves 28 parts of the chicken on sticks grilled over charcoal. See video here. So that’s what I took on this week- the best I could.
Out & About: A sandwich kick has made its presence known, but I believe we are in the middle of a very long and persistent storm. This week’s adventure? Gio’s Cuban Cafe, for the roast pork sandwich. Crispy cuban bread, slow roasted pork, swiss, pickles, and yellow mustard. FuQ.

"The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion." --Albert Camus
Thinking
I believe in dreams, in dedication, and creativity. We must have some desire to control things (a 4 footer, slightly downhill, down-grain, outside left is a good example). But on the days where we attempt to control our environments and our problems, a solution that has worked well for me is doing something inconvenient, on purpose.
In the case of the 4-footer, flip the script. How many ways can you barely miss this putt? You won’t believe how many find the bottom.
Culture
Assistant Men’s Golf Coach at Kennesaw State University, Nick Mackay, tweeted an article by Meghan Bowman for University of South Florida as they announced the closing of The Claw Golf Course (Read article here). Speculation on what will happen with the land is currently underway.
Competition
Richard Fowler came through in Detroit after a long, quiet, hiatus from the top of the game. It felt like a wrongful conviction as the golf boys slowly left our memories but BDR is back and we couldn’t be happier for him.
The 78th US Women’s Open is this week at Pebble Beach Golf Links. The weather looks tremendous, and because I’m not traveling to California, it's up to Peacock and NBC. Come on, lads- show me the golf shots!
Architecture
Per our sources, Yale is in the process of setting up the canvas for Gil Hanse, Jim Wagner, & the boys. A small amount of trees have been taken down to prepare for the restoration beginning in the fall.
Guest Check In
King Collins is building some sickeningly good features in Bluffton (Palmetto Bluff) as Red Feather makes headway. All the time, Sweetens and Landmand are running hot. What’s next for KCG? We’ll keep ya posted…
